• The corner of Hirsch Street and St. Louis Avenue was Ramon Colon's slice of Humboldt Park. Neighbors said he could often be seen hanging out there with the same group. And that's where the 22-year-old died Wednesday night, shot by a gunman from an alley next to a vacant brick home with a red X on its side. Colon was hit several times, at least once in the head, and crumpled to the street. Read more
• Burbank police are investigating the deaths of an 80-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man who were found in the bedroom of a home in the south suburb. A relative found the two in the home in the 6400 block of West 83rd Place around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to police. Both victims appeared to have died of gunshot wounds, and authorities say it appears to be a murder-suicide. Read more
• Police have released two surveillance photos of a man wanted in the attempted sexual assault of a woman who had just left a South Side CTA station. On Sunday, Feb. 24 at about 4:25 a.m. the 22-year-old woman left a CTA Red Line station and the man tried to engage her in conversation in the 0-100 block of East Garfield Boulevard, police said.
