Chicago Blues: An Urban Experience

Old Town School of Folk Music begins a new blues series, "Chicago Blues: An Urban Experience," with a performance by Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues (Dan Coscarelly, guitar; Ariyo, piano; Nick Charles, bass; and Mose Rutues Jr., drums). Branch will bend a note on his harmonica to celebrate the birthday of blues legend Marion "Little Walter" Jacobs, one of the first to play an amplified harmonica. Why go: Leave it to Old Town to pull off this blues series with its good track record of family-friendly programming of diverse music and dance. Each concert includes a pre-concert conversation with the artist. Reconsider: You are losing confidence in Chicago's appeal as a blues town. Details: 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Myron R. Szold Music and Dance Hall, Old Town School of Folk Music, 4545 N. Lincoln Ave.; $15; 773-728-6000,
