Date and place of incident: September 2006, 6500 block of South Bishop St., Chicago. Incident narrative: A 12-year-old girl was walking to school, when Gibson approached her, waved hello, started asking her questions about where she went to school. Gibson then grabbed the girl by her shoulder and tried to pull her into his Dodge Ram van, according to a police report. She pulled away and broke free, and Gibson fled. Chicago police sent out a flash message and picked up Gibson. Court outcome: Charged with child abduction and attempted kidnapping, he was convicted of attempted aggravated kidnapping of a child and sentenced to four years in prison. He is a registered sex offender. In a Tribune interview, Gibson called the case that led to his conviction "a big misunderstanding" and said he was falsely accused and prosecuted. "I didn't touch her."
