Circle Theatre, a fixture in the Western suburbs for nearly three decades, announced Monday night that it is giving up its rented space in Oak Park and joining the happy band of itinerant, non-Equity theater companies in Chicago.
This is a season of change for Circle, which parted ways with its artistic director, Kevin Bellie, earlier this month. Jon Landvick now is artistic director.
Circle will begin its 2013 season at the Greenhouse Theatre Center in Lincoln Park, where it will re-stage is hit production of "When the Rain Stops Falling" in January. In April, Bellie (still on good terms with the company) will stage the Maury Yeston musical "Death Takes a Holiday" at Stage 773. Venues for the next two shows, the summer production of Abi Morgan's "Lovesong" and a fall production of "Evil Dead: the Musical," have yet to be determined.
