Police detectives are warning residents of the Grand Crossing and
Three people were attacked and robbed by one or two young men in the 6800 and 6900 blocks of South Stony Island Avenue within four days last week, police said.
The attackers came up from behind victims, hit them and knocked them to the ground, then demanded their belongings or took them from them, according to an alert from Area Central detectives.
In the first robbery, about 6:40 a.m. July 19, a 15-year-old girl was attacked in the 6900 block of Stony Island Avenue and robbed of a Kindle Fire, a cellphone, an MP3 player and her glasses, according to
On July 20 about 10:20 p.m., a 67-year-old man was robbed of his cellphone in the 6900 block of Stony Island. And on July 22, a 30-year-old was robbed of a purse containing cash and credit cards.
One of the attackers is described as a black man or boy with a dark complexion, between the ages of 17 and 20, standing about 5 feet 9 inches and weighing about 180 pounds. He has a Mohawk hairstyle and was wearing dark clothing. Police did not have a detailed description of the other individual involved in the robberies.
