An Island Lake man was ordered held in lieu of $30,000 bail today after being accused of intimidating a juvenile into giving him explicit pictures, McHenry County officials said.
Douglas J. Carlson, of the 4400 block of Beech Street, was charged with intimidation and harmful material, both felonies, according to a press release issued by McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.
Carlson, 44, was arrested on a warrant issued after sheriff's officials had conducted a three-month investigation, Nygren said.
The juvenile had been contacted by Carlson through a social networking site, police said. Officials did not release any details about the victim.
During the investigation, police learned that Carlson had contacted the juvenile several times and had sent the youth explicit photographs through the Internet, Nygren said.
The man was also able to obtain explicit photographs from the juvenile, Nygren said.
After the juvenile had sent the photos to Carlson, the man threatened to expose the youth to the juvenile's friends if he was not sent additional photos, police said. The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending, police said.
The man's next court date is Nov. 28, Nygren said.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
