Woman rescued from lake on North Side

Lifeguards and emergency crews rescued a woman who went into Lake Michigan at Addison Drive off Lincoln Park this afternoon, authorities said.

The Chicago Fire Department and the Police Marine Unit responded to a call of a person in the water about 1:25 p.m. and found a woman off-shore at Addison Drive, according to the police and Fire Department media offices.

The woman apparently was rescued by lifeguards stationed nearby and she was out of the water by the time the Marine Unit arrived, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

The woman was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center for treatment, but a condition for her was not immediately available, said Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford.
