An armed man who was holed up inside his Crystal Lake house is behind bars after the Saturday afternoon incident in the northwest suburb, police said.
Michael J. Walls, 45, has been charged with three counts of felony aggravated assault to a peace officer, domestic battery, unlawful restraint, and misdemeanor aggravated assault, police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said in a statement.
Walls appeared in
It was about 5 p.m. Saturday when police were called to the home in the 400 block of Kelly Lane for a domestic disturbance and learned Walls was armed and had made threats against four other people in the house who barricaded themselves inside another room for safety, the statement said.
Officers saw Walls locked inside with a semiautomatic pistol in his hand and began a dialogue with him but they were not able to safely enter the home. Negotiators with the police's emergency services team finally communicated with him, and Walls left the house voluntarily, disarmed, and allowed police to arrest him about 6:40 p.m., the statement said.
No one was hurt.
