CTA Red Line service was delayed about 20 minutes this morning when an “L” train had a braking problem in the Lakeview neighborhood and its operator suffered a medical issue while taking the train out of service.
At 10:42 a.m. officials got word that a southbound train was having braking problems between the Sheridan and Fullerton stations, according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.
Riders were taken off the train when it stopped at Fullerton and the train was removed from service.
While its operator was transporting it to the yard, the worker became ill and asked for medical assistance, Hosinski said. No customers were aboard the train at that time and the entire incident caused a delay of about 19 minutes to southbound service.
As of 1 p.m. service is operating normally, Hosinski said.
