The Chicago Transit Authority will receive a $20 million federal grant to complete slow zone repairs on the O'Hare branch of the Blue Line, Sen. Dick Durbin, D., Ill., announced Monday.
The funding will be used to eliminate slow zones on 3.6 miles of track on the Blue Line between Damen and Belmont Avenues. It marks the last section of badly deteriorated track that will undergo repairs between downtown and O’Hare International Airport, officials said.
The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s TIGER III discretionary grants program supporting infrastructure investments.
