A track fire on the Green Line led to delays for about an hour this morning,
The fire was reported on the Green Line southbound track near Laramie at about 10:35 a.m., said Stephen Mayberry, a CTA spokesman.
When the fire was first spotted, two CTA personnel tried to extinguish the fire and a train was removed from the station, said Mayberry.
But after the train had been removed, personnel noticed that smoke was still coming from the area where the fire had been put out and
Chicago Fire Department officials were called and responded at about 11:25 a.m. and put out the fire again, Mayberry said.
The fire never spread to the station and no injuries were reported.
The incident caused major delays on the Green Line, according to the CTA website.
Normal train services was reported by about noon, said Mayberry.
