Police detectives asked for the public’s help today in finding a pair of robbers who have been holding up people near the south end of
Three robberies took place within an hour late Tuesday, all just south or west of Jackson Park, according to police.
A young man or teenager wearing a black-and-white mask has gotten out of a sport-utility vehicle late at night, gone up to victims and announced robberies, according to an alert issued by Area Central detectives this morning.
The robber also has shown a chrome or silver handgun to his victims. Another man has been driving the car.
The robberies Tuesday happened starting at 10:15 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Cregier Avenue; other robberies took place at 10:20 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Oglesby Avenue; and at 11:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of East 67th Street.
The robber who has worn the mask is described as black, between ages 15 and 20 and standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11, wearing dark clothing. The man who is believed to have been driving the SUV, which is either grey or white, possibly a Saturn or GMC, is also believed to be a black man between the ages of 18 and 22, with dreadlocks and also wearing dark clothing.
