Four people were injured when their car crashed into a concrete planter box that divides Madison Street east of Laflin Street about 12:50 a.m., according to police.
The driver and others were drinking from a gallon of Rossi wine that police set off to the side after cleaning up the car crash, according to police.
The car's front driver's side clipped the box while heading east and turned in toward the concrete barrier. One of the occupant's head poked through the windshield, breaking the glass.
Three of the four, including the driver, were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. The fourth was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said. Their conditions weren't immediately available.
Two of the four were up and walking when transported to the hospital, police said.
The driver will likely be cited for driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
