Life guards and professional swimmers try to save the lives of those on board the Favorite after it capsized when a huge squall hit Lake Michigan on July 28, 1927 near Lincoln Park. Twenty-seven people were killed, including 16 children and 10 women. The Favorite was an excursion steamer that would take boaters from Lincoln Park and drop them off at Municipal Pier (later called Navy Pier).
