driver was abducted at gunpoint by several men who commandeered his truck and stole several packages, then dropped the driver and truck off in the Bucktown neighborhood, police said.
The driver had stopped at a FedEx drop box to collect packages at about 9:10 p.m. Monday in the 6200 block of North Pulaski Road in the
neighborhood, police said.
At least one of the robbers approached and pulled out a gun, police said. The driver's jacket was thrown over his face, and the driver was ordered into a dark-colored van parked nearby, police said.
The driver told police he could hear men talking, then was held down in the back seat of the van and repeatedly asked for the keys to the truck. Someone finally took the keys from his pocket and jumped into the truck and drove away, with the van following, police said.
About an hour later, the van and the truck stopped in an alley in the 1600 block of North Paulina Street, police said. The driver was taken back to the FedEx truck and ordered to stay inside the truck for about 10 minutes.
"The victim said that the suspects ordered him to stay in the FedEx truck for 10 minutes or they would kill him and they knew where he lives," according to a police report.
The robbers fled, and the driver got out of the truck and waved down another FedEx driver, police said. The driver was not injured
He told police that several packages were missing from the truck. Police said the man's wallet was also stolen along with an electronic pad used by FedEx drivers.
Three men are being sought, police said.
