Firefighters helped a worker who fell off the swing-stage scaffold he was using to wash windows on a Near North high-rise this afternoon, a Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman said.
The worker fell off the scaffold at 405 N. Wabash Ave. about 1:50 p.m., but was secured to a safety rope and dangled about 30 feet in the air briefly, then was able to let himself down part of the way, said Meg Ahlheim, a spokeswoman for the Fire Department.
Firefighters who arrived at the building then helped him get down safely, Ahlheim said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition for treatment of a cut to his hand, Ahlheim said.
Firefighters remained on-scene to secure the scaffolding, Ahlheim said.
