A former Niles North High School teacher who encouraged two cheerleaders into a game of strip poker pleaded guilty today to a misdemeanor sex charge.
Jeffrey Tackes, 30, of Bensenville, admitted to sexual exploitation of a child and was sentenced to probation and 250 hours of community service, according to the DuPage County prosecutors.
Tackes, who was also the school’s cheerleading coach, was arrested after two cheerleaders said he induced them to play strip poker with him at his residence following a party.
During the game, the students, one 16 and the other 17, said Tackes exposed himself. The cheerleaders also alleged that Tackes later sent them inappropriate, sexual text messages. Tackes resigned as a math teacher following his arrest.
As part of his plea deal, Tackes must register as a sex offender for the next 10 years, prosecutors said.
