The New Colony's hit production of "Frat," a satirical play by Evan Linder about fraternity life, is to be remounted in September as a commercial production.
The producer is John Olson, a freelance critic and theater journalist. This will be Olson's first producing project. The New Colony, a non-profit company, staged "Frat" in 2009 under the direction of Andrew Hobgood, who will direct again for Olson. Most of the cast are returning.
"Frat" will be staged on weekends in a Lincoln Avenue bar called The Apartment Lounge, located at 2251 N. Lincoln Ave., right next to the Greenhouse Theatre Center.
Many had expected the Greenhouse (once the home of Victory Gardens) to eventually get pushed out by bars on this lucrative strip. But, in fact, the reverse is taking place; theater is expanding to the bar next door.
"Frat" reopens on Sept. 24.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
