Music: Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert series

The Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert series has, since 1977, been presenting young chamber music artists at the top of their game, free of charge. Myra Hess wrote: "Though it seemed so impossible, I longed to throw open the doors to the very best music, at a price which all would be able to afford." Free is certainly affordable. Wednesday's concert features violinist Yevgeny Kutik and pianist Timothy Bozarth in a program of works by Maurice Ravel (Violin Sonata No. 2), Claude Debussy ("Beau Soir") and Ernest Bloch ("Simchas Torah"). Both performers have won prizes and performed with many an orchestra, domestic and international. As a bonus, the Dame Myra Hess concerts, as usual, take part in the remarkable Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center. 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, 78 E. Washington St.
