After winning this season's first American Cup competition over the weekend in St. Louis, Lana Gehring of Glenview heads the U.S. team that will compete in three of the four meets on the fall portion of the 2011-12 short track World Cup.
Genring, 21, a 2010 Olympic bronze medalist, won one race and finished second in two of the three others at the qualfying meet.
Two other Illinois skaters are on the team.
Champaign's Katherine Reutter, who is coming off a back injury, also won once and had two second places. Reutter, 23, took Olympic silver and bronze in 2010 and last season became the first U.S. woman to win a world title since Bonnie Blair in 1986.
Both Gehring and Reutter are scheduled to compete in all three fall World Cups, beginning Oct. 21-23 in Salt Lake City.
Tamara Frederick, 22, of Park Ridge is to compete at the two Asian World Cup meets in December. They will be her first World Cup appearances.
The U.S. skaters will skip the second World Cup meet.
On the men's side, 2010 Olympic bronze medalist J.R. Celski of Federal Way, Wash., swept the four American Cup races.
