Geoffrey Hirt has been named to the board of the James Tyree Foundation. Hirt, 68, is a professor of finance at DePaul University's Driehaus College of Business and an internationally recognized textbook author. He had Tyree in graduate and undergraduate classes at Illinois State University. Hirt also was senior vice president for strategy and planning and director of equity research at Mesirow Financial from 1999 to 2001. Tyree headed the firm from 1994 until his death in 2011. Hirt returned to DePaul full time in July 2001, where he was director of international initiatives and in charge of the International MBA programs in Hong Kong, Prague and Bahrain for the Kellstatdt Graduate School of Business. Hirt was director of the Chartered Financial Analysts study program for the Chicago Investment Analysts Society from 1987 to 2002, past president of the Midwest Finance Association and chairman of the Finance Department at DePaul from 1987 to 1997.
