A man was killed early this morning when the vehicle he was driving struck a viaduct in the South Side's Gresham neighborhood, police said.
The crash happened about 1:50 a.m. in the 8700 block of South Vincennes Avenue, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:42 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The medical examiner's office identified him as Jeffrey Oakley, of the 9600 block of South Genoa Avenue.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash, Greer said.
