A man suspected in more than seven robberies of hair salons apparently struck again in Skokie today.
About 12:15 p.m. an armed robbery was reported at a Supercuts salon at 3539 Dempster Street in the northern suburb, according to a news release from the Skokie Police Department.
A robber entered the salon, displayed a handgun and demanded money before fleeing in an unknown direction, police said.
He is described in the release as a white man about 35-45, 5-foot-10 to 6-foot-1 and 200 to 230 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a black handgun. No injuries were reported.
The victim identified the robber as the same unknown suspect described in a previous Community Alert distributed to hair salons in the area because of recent robberies in Bensenville, Lombard, Skokie, Niles, Glen Ellyn, Morton Grove and Chicago.
Skokie police had no other details about the suspect, but asked anyone with information to contact their Investigative Division at 847-982-5958 or their non-emergency Crime Tip Hotline at 847-933-8477.
