Heather A. Korpella has been promoted to executive director of Chicago Gateway Green, the nonprofit that forges public-private partnerships to beautify Chicago. Korpella will work with prominent local individuals and organizations. "Taking part in tree plantings and getting out to see the expressway gardens as they are planted or in full bloom is one of the best part of my job," she says. Korpella, 34, had been business development manager since January 2011. In that capacity, she helped the organization secure partnerships with businesses including Walgreens, Wal-Mart and WGN Radio. Korpella has an extensive background in sales and marketing in commercial real estate and as an account and arbitration executive at Chicago-based brokerage and trading firms. She also worked for Brook Furniture Rental and the online marketing website YouSwoop.com. She is a 2002 graduate of the Harrington Institute of Interior Design in Chicago.
