A head-on collision on Interstate 90 in the northwest suburbs sent three people to the hospital this morning, but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

One of the drivers had been traveling in the wrong direction, and the vehicles collided head-on, Thompson said. That driver was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence, but more details about the driver and citations were not available late this morning, Thompson said.
Those injured in the crash were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment.
The crash temporarily shut three lanes of traffic, but all lanes were reopened before 7 a.m.
