Indeed.com adds resume search

A new resume search claims more than 42,000 job hunters in Chicago.

For now, the search at

is free. Employers eventually will pay to contact job seekers. The search drills down by job title or company, including military experience, as well as location, diploma and years on the job.

Indeed is known for its search of Monster,

and other job boards. It also categorizes job titles by salary, an estimate based on the 20 percent of postings that give a pay range. It shows an average of $76,000 for Chicago listings, 4 percent above the U.S. average.

The search engine also scrapes employer websites. Indeed.com shows 3,369 full-time employer postings this past week from within 15 miles of Chicago. Results filter down to 380 listings at the the six-figure level, but that include some unlikely big-payday prospects, such as
