John Kottmann has joined DDB Chicago as Chief Strategy Officer in charge of thought leadership across all clients and new business ventures. Kottmann joins the agency from Ogilvy New York where he was senior partner, managing director of new business planning, working on new business and clients including American Express and Gap. Before joining Ogilvy, Kottmann was executive vice president/chief strategy officer for McCann, where he co-managed 40 planners, who created the award-winning MasterCard "Priceless" campaign and winning the Army account. Kottmann also has been instrumental in acquiring new business from clients including Lowe's, Marriott, Wendy's, Burger King, Bacardi, Staples, Nasdaq, Applebee's, Nikon, Major League Baseball and Smith Barney.
