Sox's Konerko hit by pitch in 4th inning, leaves game

White Sox captain Paul Konerko was hit in the left calf by a fourth-inning pitch from Boston's Andrew Miller Miller and and was forced out of Sunday's game, forcing Brent Lillibridge to make his major league debut at first base.

Lillibridge just started taking ground balls and working on footwork around the base two days ago in anticipation of an event such as Sunday's. With Adam Dunn playing as the DH, the Sox had no other experiuenced backup first basemen.

Konerko's injury was not considered serious after X-rays show no damage. However, he could be doubtful for Monday's first game against the Yankees.
