Konerko placed on 7-day DL with concussion

Paul Konerko

was placed  on the seven-day disabled list Friday, suffering from a

concussion

suffered in Tuesday's game.

The Sox will not add a player until Saturday, but it could possible be AAA Charlotte first baseman

Dan Johnson

, who has hit 25 homers and driven in73 runs in 117 games.

The Sox also have

Adam Dunn

, who started Friday,

Kevin Youkilis

"He seems fine but talking to him and having to go play is two different things,'' manager Robin Ventura said before Friday's game against the A's. "As far as being nauseated and stuff it's not as bad as the other day but he does feel it and has all the symptoms of a concussion.''

Konerko was injured Tuesday when he was struck in the right temple during the seventh inning of Tuesday’s game against the

Royals

.

Jarrod Dyson

hit him with a right elbow in a play at first base.

Konerko remained in the game, but missed Wednesday’s loss to the Royals.

As for Friday's lineup,

Dunn

will play first base, while

Dayan Viciedo

will DH and Jordan Danks will play left field and bat eighth against former Sox pitcher
