The Chicago production of Nora and Delia Ephron's "Love, Loss, and What I Wore" at the Broadway Playhouse will close Jan. 1, a spokesman said Wednesday. The commercial Chicago production (which is produced by Daryl Roth and opened Sept. 18) is forming the basis of the national tour, which kicks off Jan. 2 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Loretta Swit, the marquee name in the current Chicago cast, is leaving the Chicago production on Sunday to join the Off-Broadway company (and then the tour). The show, which is read rather than memorized, has been designed to feature a rotating cast.
On Tuesday, Dawn Wells, best known for playing the role of Mary Ann on the TV sitcom "Gilligan's Island," will take over Swit's role in Chicago and will remain through the end of the Chicago run.
Cindy Gold also has a significant role in the current Chicago cast.
