A Forest Park man was shot at a gas station near the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side this morning, officials said.
The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. after the victim, Gregory Bady, 28, got into an argument with another person at the gas station in the 5200 block of West Jackson Boulevard, according to Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro and Cook County medical examiner's office.
The victim then drove or was driven to the 600 block of South Kostner Avenue, near an entrance to the Eisenhower Expressway on the shoulder.
He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:03 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Bady’s uncle spoke to reporters outside the gas station. The uncle saw a story about the slaying, and spoke to the victim’s father before going by the gas station this morning, he told reporters on the scene.
Bady has three children, two boys and a girl, and had been working to change his life to be a role model for his children, the uncle said.
Court records indicated he had an extensive criminal history.
At least one lane of the inbound Eisenhower was closed for about a half hour after the shooting, according to Illinois State Police officials.
