A 63-year-old man died this morning when his car was struck head-on by another vehicle in McHenry County.
About 6 a.m. a 2012 Lincoln MKZ sedan was headed westbound in the 22900 block of U.S. Route 20 in unincorporated McHenry County's Marengo Township when it entered into the eastbound lanes and struck a 1998 Honda sedan head-on, according to the McHenry County sheriff's office.
The driver of the Honda, Stephan A. Ford, 63, of Garden Prairie, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. His car did not have air bags and he was not wearing a seat belt, the sheriff's office said.
The 86-year-old driver of the Lincoln, who lives in Lincolnshire, was taken to Centegra Hospital Woodstock and treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.
Members of the McHenry County sheriff's office, Marengo Police Department and the Marengo Fire Protection District responded to the crash, which is being investigated by the McHenry County sheriff's office and the McHenry County coroner's office.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
