A man who was found shot to death this afternoon in a vacant building in the city's Austin neighborhood suffered multiple gunshot wounds, officials said.
Police were called about noon and told that someone had been shot and was in a building located in the 300 North Pine Street on the West Side, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The man was identified as Levi Stubblefield, 34, of the 1800 block of Harvey Avenue in Berwyn, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
When they arrived, police found Stubblefield shot multiple times; he was pronounced dead at the scene, Zala said. Police did not know how long he had been dead or how long he had been in the building.
The building appeared to be vacant, he said.
As of 2:30 p.m., no one was in custody for the shooting. Grand Central detectives were investigating.
