A 19-year-old man is accused of trying to physically restrain a woman while wearing a clown mask in unincorporated
Luis D. Barajas, of the 200 block of Michael Lane, was charged with felony counts of aggravated battery, unlawful restraint, and obstructing justice, as well as two misdemeanor counts of unlawful violation of an order of protection, according to a statement from the DuPage County sheriff's office.
A woman called police to say she was being attacked by a person wearing a clown mask in the 3N400 block of Center Court in Addison about 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the statement.
She told responding sheriff's deputies that she was getting out of her vehicle when Barajas, wearing a clown mask, tried to restraint her.
They struggled and he fled the scene, but video of the incident helped police in finding Barajas, the statement said.
During the subsequent investigation, authorities learned he'd also been harassing the victim by electronic communications, according to the statement. Police also said in the release that it appeared this was an isolated incident.
Barajas, who was scheduled to appear in bond court Friday, was being held at the DuPage County Jail as of this evening.
