A man armed with a handgun robbed a branch bank in the Morgan Park neighborhood this morning, authorities said.
The robber demanded cash from employees at the First American Bank branch at 11821 S. Western Ave. in the 9:30 a.m. robbery, but did not injure anyone, according to the FBI. The man left the bank on foot with an unknown amount of cash, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O’Brien said.
The robber was described by police as a black man with a light complexion between 25 to 30 years old, standing 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-2, weighing 150 to 160 pounds and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.
The FBI said in a release the man was wearing dark clothing, a dark cap and sunglasses and may have been as short as 5-foot-10.
The handgun used in the robbery was described by witnesses as a silver revolver, according to the FBI.
