A 19-year-old man was hospitalized this afternoon after being shot twice in the River North neighborhood, officials said.
The man was wounded near the intersection of Chicago and Hudson avenues at about 1:10 p.m., according to police and fire officials.
The man was shot in the head and in the back, police said.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, fire officials said.
About 35 minutes later, a 27-year-old man was shot in the leg during a robbery, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
He drove to meet someone at 71st and Carpenter streets in Englewood whem someone approached the car carrying a gun, opened the door and asked the man inside for his wallet.
He shot the man in the knee and took off with the wallet and his phone, police said. The man was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in stable condition.
