Police were speaking to witnesses and “persons of interest” after a man was found shot to death at a home in South
this afternoon, police said.
An 18-year-old man died following a shooting at a home in the 14700 block of East Riverside Drive about 3:10 p.m., South Holland Police Chief Warren Millsaps said.
Police were called to the home after a report of shots fired and found the man shot in the chest, Millsaps said. The man was taken to Ingalls Hospital in
, where he was declared dead.
Investigators were still trying to determine what happened in the shooting, but it does not appear to have involved a domestic dispute, and police believe residents “of the area don’t have anything to worry about,” Millsaps said.
Local police are working with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, and are interviewing both witnesses and “persons of interest,” Millsaps said.
The man’s name and other information were not being released, pending confirmation and notification of his family, according to Millsaps and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
