Marjorie M. Scardino, board chairman, MacArthur Foundation

Marjorie M. Scardino has been elected to chair the board of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Scardino, who has served on the foundation's 15-member board since 2005, will begin her role after its June meeting. She takes over from Robert Denham, who has served on the board for 12 years and chairman since 2007. Scardino is chief executive of the London-based education and media company Pearson and serves on the boards of Nokia Corp. and the Carter Center. She is also and is a fellow of the Academy of Arts and Sciences. She has a degree from Baylor University and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
