The six-month-old puppy is a gift from <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PEPLT003486" title="Edward M. Kennedy" href="/topic/politics/edward-m.-kennedy-PEPLT003486.topic">Sen. Edward M. Kennedy</a> (D-MA) who owns several Portuguese water dogs himself. This breed of dog is considered a good pet for children who have allergies, as Malia does.
