Michiel Herkemij has been named executive vice president and chief executive of Sara Lee's International Beverage business. He will assume the post by Dec. 1. Herkemij, 47, is as president and CEO of Cuauhtemoc Moctezuma, a Mexican brewer acquired by Heineken in 2010. Before that, he was CEO of Heineken's Nigerian subsidiary. Herkemij also had executive posts with Royal Friesland Campina N.V., a dairy company in China, Nigeria and the Benelux region; British American Tobacco in England, Spain and Portugal; and ABN AMRO Bank. Herkemij succeeds Frank van Oers, a 16-year Sara Lee veteran who has been led the International Beverage and Bakery division since 2005.
