WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Several notables will be missing from the Blackhawks' lineup when they face the Washington Capitals in the final exhibition game of the preseason for both teams Sunday at Verizon Center.
Captain, Jonathan Toews, who was flexing his left leg late in the Hawks' 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night, is not playing against the Capitals. Also not traveling with the Hawks are forwards Dave Bolland (upper-body injury) and prospect Brandon Saad, who was the surprise of training camp in a bid to make the roster at 18 years old.
Also not playing are defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook. John Scott returns to the lineup on defense.
All three goaltenders still on the camp roster, Corey Crawford, Ray Emery and Alexander Salak, are expected to make the trip. Coach Joel Quenneville will reveal his plans for Sunday's goalie at 1 p.m. Central. The Hawks are expected to decide following the game whether Emery or Salak will be the backup to Crawford this season.
To bolster the lineup, the Hawks recalled forwards Jimmy Hayes and Peter LeBlanc from Rockford of the AHL.
