The struggling

Chicago Blackhawks

will add some experience to the defensive core with the return of

Steve Montador

from injury and the insertion of

Sean O'Donnell

into the lineup for Sunday night's game against the

Detroit Red Wings

Montador has missed three consecutive games with an upper-body injury but is scheduled to play when the Hawks attempt to snap their three-game losing skid.

"I'm 100 percent (and) excited to be back," Montador said following the Hawks' morning skate at the

United Center

. "There were a few games there when things weren't 100 percent but we were just playing through it. (I was) getting better, but not as quickly as we had thought. (I was) taking a few days like we did was just to ensure that instead of taking practices and what-not off and delaying it longer we'd just sort of nip it in the bud."

Montador will likely be paired with O'Donnell, who will be become the sixth active and 90th player in the history of the

to play in his 1,200th game.

Meanwhile, center

Marcus Kruger

joined teammates on the ice for the morning skate as he recovers from a concussion. The rookie has missed six games in a row after suffering the injury Dec. 26 against the

Columbus Blue Jackets

"It's good to be back with the guys on the ice," Kruger said. "It's been a while but it was good.

"Of course you don't want to miss these many games but I try to be patient and I know it's going to be better and better and I hope to be back and play some games soon."

Joel Quenneville

said the Hawks are still evaluating the extent of the left knee injury of winger

Daniel Carcillo

. The veteran will serve the third of his seven-game suspension when the Hawks take on the Wings.

Corey Crawford

will start in goal for the Hawks and will be opposed by

Ty Conklin

for the Wings.
