Willie Rogers of the Soul Stirrers sings during a 1997 concert at New Bethlehem Baptist Church on Chicago's South Side. The gospel group formed in Texas, but relocated to Chicago where they transformed gospel music and influenced the soul and R & B genres. The group has had several personnel changes and some of it members, like Sam Cooke and Lou Rawls, have had legendary solo careers.
