Michigan Ave. (Mandel Building), orange, commercial-storage, 1925, Graham, Anderson, Probst & White: This 14-story warehouse was ranked by architectural authority and social critic Lewis Mumford as one of the best buildings in Chicago. And Paul Gapp, the Tribunes Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic, praised the structures conviction that warehouses need not be homely. Demolished in 1989.
