A Brighton Park man already on parole in an attemped murder case faces new gun-related charges after beat officers saw him firing a gun near his home Thursday night, police said.
Edgar Jasso, 29, faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and reckless discharge of a firearm and has been charged with violating his parole for a 2005 attempted murder case, according to police and court records.

Jasso was convicted of an attempted murder that took place May 12, 2005, in the 5100 block of South Ada Street, about 6:15 p.m., according to court and police records. He was sentenced to six years in prison in 2005, but after being paroled once, was sent back to prison following his arrest on a reckless conduct charge last spring. He was released on parole again in September, according to state records.
Jasso is expected to appear in Cook County Bond Court on Saturday.
