A car slammed into a pole ealry this morning, leaving a 35-year-old man dead and another man hurt this morning in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The 35-year-old was a passenger inside a 2006 Lincoln that struck a pole in the 4800 block of South Damen Avenue at 12:25 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.
Angel Ramirez, of the 1900 block of West 57th Street, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was pronounced dead at 1:03 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office..
The car’s driver, a 25-year-old man, was also taken to Stroger in an unknown condition.
Greer said the crash is possibly alcohol related and police continue to investigate.
