Authorities are looking for the armed man who grabbed nearly $700 from a woman who’d just cashed a check at a bank this week in the
neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
It happened Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Chase Bank branch, 4854 W. Irving Park Rd., police said.
The customer handed a check to a teller to be cashed, then as soon as the $692 was set down in the teller slot a man pushed the woman out of the way while holding the handle of a gun that was in his waistband, police said.
He told her: “Give me that (expletives),’’ according to a police report.
He grabbed the money and ran out of the bank.
Outside, two people who were seated in a car saw him and began chasing him, the report said.
The witnesses watched him run into a building about a block away in the 4800 block of West Dakin Street, and responding police officers surrounded the building and searched but did not find him, the report said.
At 5:50 p.m.
agents got to the scene and took over the investigation, the report said.
No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon a description of the suspect was not available.
