Abraham Caudel, charged with sexually assaulting one of his daughters, fled to Mexico and made no effort to conceal his whereabouts. Federal law enforcement officials say finding a fugitive abroad is often difficult and dangerous. Yet it took Tribune reporters less than two days in Guadalajara to locate Caudel. Facing open warrants on charges of child sex assault and fleeing the United States to avoid prosecution, he readily agreed to an on-camera interview to profess his innocence and describe his easy escape from American justice. >>For more photos, videos and stories on Caudel and other fugitives from justice, go to the Tribune's watchdog investigation: Across the border, beyond the law.
