Abraham Lincoln, 1887

Location: Lincoln Park, between Lake Shore Drive and Clark Street A portrait statue so admired internationally that in 1918 the British government approved a copy to stand outside Westminster Abbey in London. A somber seated Lincoln, Saint-Gaudens' last public monument (in Grant Park, north of Congress Parkway near Columbus Drive), had a less enthusiastic reception: Completed in 1906, it wasn't unveiled until 1926, almost 20 years after the artist's death.
