George Lettrich Jr., left, was found guilty of the rape and murder of Roberta Rinearson and sentenced to the electric chair on Oct. 18, 1951. Dept. Sheriff Robert Ferguson is at right. Two years later, in 1953, the Supreme Court voided the death sentence saying Lettrich's confession was "taken by police after he was held incommunicado for 60 hours."
